The Journal Entry feature is a straightforward, easy to use program when recording/assigning transactional entries. The Journal Entry option is used to create and maintain journal entries by account number based on Corporation and financial period. The account numbers used during journal entry must exist in the Chart of Accounts. Once the Journal Entry process is complete, account balances are instantly updated and distributed throughout the system where appropriate.
Journal Entry Prefs: There is a system level preference setting to show the User Ref1 & User Ref2 fields.

The JOURNAL ENTRY Feature provides on-screen access to additional POSTING SUPPORT options by selecting the COPY button located on the upper right portion of the form. (See the Posting Support section of the Manual for more information on Posting Support features).

CORP CODE Enter a valid CORPORATE CODE for which the Journal Entry is to be created.

JOURNAL NO:
A system generated Journal Entry number field appears at the top left portion of the screen. This number will be automatically generated by the system upon completion of the Journal Entry. No user input required or accepted.
PERIOD DATE: This field retrieves and displays the current transaction date as the current period date and may be overwritten.
TRANSACTION DATE: User defined Journal Entry transaction date. The actual date on which the transaction took place.
JOURNAL TYPE: A Journal selection type for which to assign the current entry. Select JOURNAL TYPE from the available selections in the drop-down box. Options include General Journal, Adjustments Journal, Cash Disbursements, Cash Receipts, Purchase Journal, and Sales Journal.

DESCRIPTION: A description, name, or memo describing the Journal Entry up to 30 characters.
